Veterinarians

  • Ann Marie Livengood , DVM

Dr. Ann Marie Livengood grew up in Ararat, North Carolina and moved to Mount Airy when she was 11 years old. She spent her early teens at Mt. Airy High School before her acceptance into the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, where she spent her junior and senior year. After graduation, she did her undergraduate work in Zoology at NC State University and then entered into the Veterinary School at NC State University.

She spent a year in Fayetteville before joining Cobb Animal Clinic in Greensboro, NC as an associate veterinarian for 11 years. For the two years prior to the initiation of Pfafftown Animal Hospital, she worked supporting veterinary hospitals in the triad area as a relief veterinarian.

Dr. Livengood is dedicated to providing services that far exceed basic pet care while providing a warm and compassionate environment for the client.  Even while running a growing practice, Dr. Livengood still finds time to play an active role in the community as well as her church.

Starting a new practice would never have been  possible without the love and support of her family. Raising three children and a husband is no easy job : ) Team Livengood just wouldn't be complete without their two rescue dogs Max and Uno. Dr. Livengood and Max are quite the team! Not only does max have his canine Good Citizenship Award but last spring he was awarded his Companion Dog AKC title.

In her limited time off, Dr. Livengood enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and no matter when it is she is always up for a glass of sweet tea!

  • Lori Blevins

Lori is an extraordinary veterinary assistant. She has been with the practice since March of 08. Her lively personality makes her a joy to be around. Her care and compassion is expressed every day in her interaction with your pets.

Lori moved around quite a bit growing up and came to live here in NC early February of 08. Her variety of  skills, versatility, and experiences have made her a huge asset to our hospital.

Lori has a true love for cats and can soothe  even some of the most anxious pets. We affectionately call her the cat whisperer. Her furry family at home includes two cats and a rabbit.

When Lori is not at work she loves being outside and reading books.

  • Atalvin Zhiva

Vini has been with us since the hospital opened in 2007, but his experience started a long time ago assisting his father, who is a veterinarian. Born in the small European country of Albania, he graduated from Veterinary University in 2001 and has an Albanian degree in Veterinary Medicine. When he emigrated from Albania in 2006 with his family, he began work as a Veterinary Assistant. He is currently working towards one day becoming a licensed veterinarian here in the United States.

Vini is a very skilled dental hygienist, surgical nurse, and is a wonderful addition to our staff. He is also proficient in Italian.

Outside of the practice Vini enjoys spending time with his wife Marinela, his sons Albi and Robert.

Reception Staff

  • Heathe Jones

I have been a Veterinary Assistant here at PHA since February 08. Just like my coworkers I perform a variety of tasks, one of which is webmaster.

I have been around animals all my life and have been volunteering with special needs children since High School. I spent 4 years helping to match service dogs with children and doing follow up exercises to help them learn to work as a team. During that time I learned quite a bit about dog behavior. I also picked up on sign language, which is extremely useful when communicating to clients that are hearing impaired.

I got my first Rhodesian Ridgeback 9 years ago and was hooked immediately. I am an active member of our breed parent club and enjoy participating is AKC conformation, obedience, and lure coursing events. Whenever possible I  attend continuing education seminars that focus on topics that include: health and genetics, nutrition, reproduction, and behavior. I am fortunate to have a job that pertains to the same fields.

When I am not within PAH walls I enjoy spending time with my two and four legged family. I love photography, computers and tons of other nerdy things.

Our website is always being updated. If there is something you would like to see here please just send us an email. We are always looking for feedback.

  • Sabra E Bryant

Sabra joined the PAH team last spring. She is currently a junior at East Surry High School and assists our staff however necessary. Even though Sabra is only 16, she shows great responsibility, focus, and initiative.

Sabra is very active! Besides playing for her High School basketball team, soccer team, and the Carolina Cyclones; she also is heavily involved in her church youth group.

Sabra enjoys her work at the hospital and hopes to one day become a veterinarian herself. Sabra has a warm and enthusiastic spirit that is a healthy reminder to all of us that no matter how hard you are working you should always enjoy yourself and each other!
